Benefit concert raises over P3.5m for children’s cancer center

Outbox Media Powerhouse Corp. (OBM) held the benefit concert Thrive: A Symphony of Thriving Stories on Sept. 26 at Metrotent, Pasig City, raising over P3.5 million for the Cancer and Hematology Center of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

The benefit concert, which carried a message of hope and resilience, highlighting the importance of community support, was part of the observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Before the event, broadcaster Anthony Taberna, his wife Rossel Velasco-Taberna, and their daughter Zoey, a leukemia survivor, presented the donations to doctors at the medical center. The funds are intended to support the diagnostics, pain relief, health, and nutrition of young cancer patients.

The concert showcased performances by Ogie Alcasid, who teamed up for a duet with Lani Misalucha, as well as Julie Ann San Jose and Darren Espanto, both of whom garnered enthusiastic applause from the packed audience.

A notable moment came with a performance by Zoey and her sister Helga Taberna, who was her donor during Zoey’s cancer treatment. Their story served as the inspiration for the concert.

The event also featured a five-course dinner catered by Taste of the Town and was supported by several sponsors, including UAAGI: Baic, Chery, Foton, Lynk & Co, San Miguel Corporation, Villar City, Vista Estates, Ever Bilena, RC Ramos Construction Corporation, Antonio Chua Jr., Alice G. Eduardo, Cherylume, Stronghold Insurance Company, and Jullien And Jorel.

Proceeds from the ‘Thrive: A Symphony of Thriving Stories’ benefit concert were directed to the Cancer and Hematology Center of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards the care of young cancer patients.
