Actress Lovi Poe is currently back in the Philippines for a few months to film her new project with Regal Entertainment, Guilty Pleasure. The film was written by Noreen Capili and directed by Connie Macatuno.

The new project marks a reunion for Lovi and Connie, who previously collaborated on Malaya with Zanjoe Marudo in 2020.

In Guilty Pleasure, Lovi shares the screen with Jameson Blake and JM de Guzman. Newcomers Dustin Yu, Sarah Edwards, and Angelica Lao round out the cast.

In addition to Guilty Pleasure, Lovi will also star in another action-drama film titled The Untamed. This film, directed by Richard Somes, will require her to undergo physical preparation due to its intense action scenes.

‘Guilty Pleasure’ will be Jameson Blake’s first film with Lovi

While preparing for The Untamed, Lovi is also tackling a unique challenge in Guilty Pleasure. She plays a lawyer, a role that makes her feel nervous.

“This is one of the roles I haven’t played before, so I’m thoroughly preparing for it,” Lovi, who even cut her hair to give the character a more sophisticated look, said. “I’m a lawyer in this movie, which tackles many important issues, from the Me Too movement to women’s empowerment.”

Fresh from his role in ‘Linlang,’ JM de Guzman will be starring alongside Lovi as a fellow lawyer

Lovi has already made three films in Hollywood, but she still feels hesitant to be called a Hollywood actress. She prefers to be recognized as an actress in America, emphasizing that the experience feels different when she walks the red carpet at events in Hollywood.

“I’m just an actress in America, because it’s like being on set with my co-actors there, it’s just super fun, and the experience of filming there was truly wonderful,” she said.

Lovi expressed gratitude for her supportive husband, mentioning that she doesn’t need to seek permission for her projects but discusses them with him. Her husband respects her career decisions and is excited about her projects, which have allowed them to spend quality time together during Christmas.

“It’s not like I ask permission. Nothing’s changed. I’m still the same…alam naman niya yung work ko. And there’s no need for approval, he respects my job. And yun, he’s very excited for me to do this project kasi it’s been a while,” the 35-year-old actress explained.

Lovi also shared that they share similar interests and enjoy hearing about each other’s work experiences, despite their different professional fields.

Monty Blencowe, Lovi’s husband, will visit the Philippines to spend time with her. Lovi often travels to America to be with Monty while balancing her showbiz career in Hollywood and the Philippines.
