After almost 15 years, Disenchanted, the sequel to the fantasy-romantic film Enchanted, is finally available for streaming on Disney+ Philippines starting on November 18, Friday.
The main characters from the 2007 film are returning, Amy Adams as Giselle from the fairytale and animated world of Andalasia and Patrick Dempsey as Robert Philip, Giselle’s love interest from New York.
“Seeing the impact it had not only on children but also on families, it’s just been a really magical part of my life. We had tossed around the idea of a sequel for years. I was just excited to sort of dive back into the world of Giselle to see where she was, who she is this many years later,” Adams said during the Enchanted cast reunion.
“If you didn’t know, the film is celebrating its 15th anniversary on November 21st. I am also oh so, so very proud of this film. It holds a very special place in my heart,” the director of Enchanted, Kevin Lima, said.
Original cast members such as James Marsden (Prince Edward) and Idina Menzel (Nancy Tremaine) also returned for the movie sequel. Gabriella Baldacchino will play Morgan, Philip’s now grown-up daughter.
The sequel follows the story of Giselle and Robert, now married, ten years after the first film. The couple and their children moved to a Suburban community of Monroeville. However, things had gone wrong, and Giselle used magic from Andalasia for help, which accidentally turned her real life into a fairy-tale world, jeopardizing her family’s future happiness.
Now, Giselle has to reverse the spell and discover what happily ever after truly means.
The sequel was directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, Barry Josephson, and Adams herself.
