American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has broken records with her newly-released 10th studio album Midnights, as it sells over 1.5 million units during its first week of release.
The long-awaited and hyped studio album anticipated by pop lovers and “Swifties” (the official name of her fans) of all ages across various social media platforms debuted with the biggest debut sales week for any album since Adele’s 25 of 2015, which was the first titleholder of selling a million copies in a single week.
As for dethroning her records, Midnights officially displaced her previous albums that also sold over a million copies in a week, namely: Speak Now (1.04 M), Red (1.2 M), 1989 (1.28 M), and Reputation (1.21 M).
Wrapping this up like the Mastermind she is, Swift is now the most-streamed female artist on the music-streaming platform Spotify, with 228 million Spotify streams and the first to surpass 35 billion streams.
