After the successful run of the television series Love of My Life, which ended in March last year, Mikael Daez embarks on a new journey, this time a solo TV host for GMA-7.

Entitled The Best Ka!, the infotainment program features Guinness World Records “Best of the Best.”

“It really came as a surprise to me,” he stated during the program’s media junket. “In my 12 years with the Kapuso, it’s the first time that I’ll be hosting a full-length show. In the past years, I had been tapped to serve as segment host to various programs.”

The 34-year-old actor is very thankful to his mother network for the opportunity to headline his own show.

Mikael Daez is the new solo host for infotainment program ‘The Best Ka!’

“As always, the management entrusts the project to me along with the whole production team, encouraging us to treat it as our own and make the station proud with wonderful output. So, I guess it’s the same case with The Best Ka!. I intend to make the most out of this, give it my best shot and enjoy the experience,” he said.

The infotainment program is Mikael’s first TV project since Love of My Life, he admitted that it did not bother him a bit despite not being able to work on the small screen immediately after the soap ended.

“My wife Megan (Young) and I got afraid because of the pandemic. There were health and safety protocols to consider and no one knew what would happen next. Lots of TV programs were put on hold due to various external factors,” he said.

“It’s a matter of understanding the situation. There were lots of limitations. But now, the past is behind us and we might as well look forward to the future. I have The Best Ka! and I’m excited with this one,” he went on.

Now that he has his own program where he is the solo host, does he feel any pressure especially when it comes to ratings?

“Well, all I can say is that I’ve been with GMA for 12 years now and I’ve done a show or two every year. Of course, the pressure is always there. What’s important is you give it your best and enjoy it. Those are two essential things. If you have a script, read your script. If you have objectives, understand them. But at the same time, you should enjoy the moment,” ended Mikael.
