Heart Evangelista is evidently Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero’s cheerleader. The actress was caught on camera cheering for her husband at the vice-presidential debate on ABS-CBN.
“Ngayon nga po medyo napaos na po ako kakasigaw kagabi pero I’m so proud of him. Natutuwa po ako dahil ang daming mga magagandang feedback po lalo na sa social media,” Heart said during a campaign sortie in Lipa recently.
Netizens bashed Chiz for his manner of speaking in Tagalog. But, Heart was glad that the audience eventually focused on the platforms of each candidate.
“Nakaka-proud na nasasabi niya kung anong mga dapat niyang sabihin, kung ano ‘yung mga naririnig ko sa kanya kapag kaming dalawa ay na-share niya sa ibang tao at nararamdaman ng tao ‘yon,” Heart explained. “Saka si Chiz kasi ang galing niyang magsalita. Makata, ‘di ba? So parang nakaka-bilib lalo. Doon po ako lalong bumilib sa kanya. Nu’ng nakita ko siya noong 2007 kung paano siya magsalita parang naliliwanag lahat-lahat. Kumbaga ang bawat tanong mo may sagot siya kaya nakakatuwa na nakikita siya nandoon sa entablado,” the actress related.

“Na-appreciate ko iyon na ganon siya magsalita kasi mas nalilinawan ako sa mga bagay-bagay so kapag nagtatanong ako sa kanya, biglang magshi-shift siya ng tone. Iyon ang tono niya, oo seryoso, at ang ganda noon is madami akong natututunan,” the actress added.

Had Fernando Poe, Jr. won over Joseph Estrada in the “jack n poy’ they were playing when the former was still a young actor, he would have been the politician and not the now President Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada.
That was what Estrada recounted to members of the media during a sortie in Manila with Senator Grace Poe.
“Madalas kaming nag-uusap ni FPJ: ‘kung wala ‘yung mga mahihirap, wala rin tayo…’ Kaya sabi namin, ‘paano tayo makakaganti?’ Kaya nag-isip kami… Inisip namin kung tatakbong mayor o ano,” Erap told the crowd in Baseco in Tondo.
“Nag-unahan kami kung sino… Nag-jack n’ poy kami, nanalo ako, kaya ako ang nauna—naging mayor ako ng San Juan,” Erap said about his political stint in 1967.
Meanwhile, Cathy Sanchez Babao’s post on her social media account defending Fernando Poe, Jr. and his legacy to the Filipinos.
Cathy recounts how close FPJ was with fellow workers in the movie industry. In fact, Da King was also some sort of a “love doctor.”
Caridad Sanchez, Cathy’s mother, talked once to FPJ when she experienced heartbreak.
“When my mother came to Manila in 1958 and her heart was broken into bits and pieces, FPJ rescued her. There was nothing romantic. They were just really good friends. He took her to Luneta and strolled by the sea wall. He listened to her rant about how badly she had been treated and he wanted to beat up her arrogant boyfriend,” Cathy said on her Facebook post.
“They munched on nilagang mani, because in 1958 it was all they could afford as struggling young actors. Years later when they were both successful, it was a page in their history they liked to look back on and laugh about,” added the writer. “FPJ didn’t work for government but hell, he was a good man. He was always a protector, and had a legacy of caring for everyone—big or small. Ayaw talaga ni Ronnie ang may naaapi. And when he’s your friend, he’s your friend until the very end. So please lang, I’m tired of reading all this crap about FPJ not having a legacy. He did. It just wasn’t in the realm of the political.”
“FPJ lives on in his daughter, and in the hearts and minds of everyone who encountered his caring, compassion, kindness and generosity. For those of us who knew him, brief though our encounters may have been, the imprint he left in our hearts is so deep that it will never be forgotten for as long as we live,” Cathy concluded.
