Rex Group of Companies, led by its flagship company, Rex Book Store Inc., recently green-lighted the use of its first ever solar power plant for its operations. The Rex Group is an educational publishing outfit with more than 60 years of experience producing books and educational materials. Present during the switch-on of the 178.5-kilowatt (kWp) solar rooftop project were Rex executives (L-R) Roger John Y. Fontelera, director for finance and administration; Jeanne Marie Fontelera Tordesillas, director for marketing; Danda Buhain Garcia, director for publishing; Don Timothy I. Buhain, COO; Atty. Dominador D. Buhain, chairman and president of the Rex Group; Teresita Fontelera Carpio, director; Rose Ann Y. Fontelera, head, legal materials division for Rex Book Store. Greenheat Corporation installed the power plant, which is expected to provide a maximum of 20% of Rex’s energy needs, thus reducing the company’s carbon footprint to 108 metric tons.
