Rex Group of Companies, led by its flagship company, Rex Book Store Inc., recently green-lighted the use of its first ever solar power plant for its operations. The Rex Group is an educational publishing outfit with more than 60 years of experience producing books and educational materials. The company’s chairman, Atty. Dominador Buhain, chief operating officer Don Timothy Buhain, and key officials of the group, along with officials from solar power energy provider Greenheat Corporation, recently switched on the the 178.5-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar rooftop during launching ceremonies at its offices in Quezon City. Greenheat Corporation, an ISO-certified solar solutions provider, installed the grid-tiered solar photovoltaic power plant, which is expected to provide a maximum of 20% of Rex’s energy needs, thus reducing the company’s carbon footprint to 108 metric tons, or the equivalent of 1,080 adult trees per year.
