"This is an act of treason by the government network!"
Santa Banana, there are some people calling the move of Congress to grant a franchise to ABS-CBN a Moro-moro. The House of Representatives passed a bill, sponsored by Speaker Alan Cayetano, granting provisional franchise to the network until October 31 this year.
I don’t think it’s a Moro-moro. The blame for the aggravation experienced by the Lopez network rests on the House leadership, particularly the Speaker himself. He procrastinated on the passage of several bills to renew the network’s franchise, which expired on May 4.
I believe that what really happened was that Cayetano’s conscience was stricken; he realized that the ABS-CBN mess was all his fault. This was why he himself eventually sponsored the bill giving the network a provisional franchise.
With the Senate ready to also enact the bill, we can expect that the grant of a temporary franchise will materialize before Congress goes on recess.
My gulay, all the aggravation and controversies would not have taken place had the House acted sooner!
But, why only a temporary, provisional franchise when ABS-CBN needs a 25-year franchise? Perhaps Cayetano should explain. It’s his bill, anyway.

I join many others who are outraged by the government-owned People’s Television Network in airing China’s government propaganda. The Wow China cultural show glorifies China. And PTV is run by Filipino taxpayers’ money!
I am a dutiful taxpayer and I resent that the PTV is doing this in the wake of China’s bullying especially on the issue of disputed territory.
The Department of Foreign Affairs may have filed a diplomatic protest against China’s incursions in the West Philippine Sea, but does China even care? I don’t know how many times we have filed a diplomatic protest. But China continues to bully us. They tell Filipino fisherman not to intrude on what they call their territory.
The airing of China’s cultural show over government TV is a supreme insult to Filipinos. The government channel is being used as a propaganda vehicle by the Chinese Embassy! Isn’t this treason being committed by the Presidential Communications Operations Office? I think Secretary Martin Andanar should resign for betrayal of our patrimony.
Would government-owned Chinese television air shows featuring Philippine culture? Of course not!
I really think the President Duterte and his government are overdoing the supposed friendship with Chinese president Xi Jinping.
Note that Malacanang has given priority to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators. They really seem to think the Chinese are special people. To think that POGOs are back in operation despite the fact that most of them have not paid their fees and taxes.
I think the Senate should do something over this act by PTV. I am outraged!

That birthday bash of National Capital Region Police Office Chief Debold Sinas brings to fore this question: If the police, especially high-ranking police officers, cannot observe quarantine restrictions, how can they expect people to follow them?
Sinas has apologized for it and said it was not a party but just a “mananita.” No amount of explanation can excuse this.
Photos that circulated told us exactly what happened during the party. We saw that they did not violate social distancing measures. What Sinas did was unforgiveable.
What surprised me was that Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano seemed to believe this excuse.

With the implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine starting today, more than 2 million are expected to go back to work in government and private offices, although only partially.
Public transport will also supposedly partially resume – although I wonder how authorities can implement social distancing measures here.

The World Health Organization tells us that the coronavirus will be here to stay. Does this mean that the new normal will prevent is from shaking hands, hugging and kissing?
