“It is no wonder that there has been a massive migration of buyers from the Global South ditching their iPhones, Motorolas, and other such brands.”
Whenever the United States and its vassal allies accuse another independent major power of any wrongdoing, you can be sure it’s the US already doing what it accuses the other, using the fabricated story to cover up its own crime. It has been the same case with the allegations from the US of China’s “cyber espionage that hit millions of people” starting last March 2024. Now it has been exposed by a report from China to be the US government’s operation.
The US alleged that China had launched “Volt Typhoon” which US politicians, intelligence agencies and cyber companies claimed to be a China-directed hacking operation that initiated a series of massive cyber-attack activities targeting critical US infrastructure networks, but an investigative report titled “Volt Typhoon III: A Cyber Espionage and Disinformation Campaign conducted by US Government Agencies” showed that it was actually a US intel operation.
As a Filipino acutely aware of the malicious and evil cyber digital and information warfare the US has been targeting the Philippines and Filipinos, such as the case of the “Pentagon psyops versus China’s Covid vaccines” that likely caused hundreds of thousands of illnesses on the vaccine-averse Filipinos it caused. It is an absolute certainty that this “Volt Typhoon” U.S. cyber warfare operation also targeted the Philippines and Filipinos being one of the major pawns in the U.S. aggression against China.
The National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and the National Engineering Laboratory for Computer Virus Prevention Technology in its dive into the cyber espionage operations of the US government uncovered from the US National Security Agency (NSA) files the advantage it has been taking of its access to the information and information tech industry to construct “Choke Points” in the Internet.
Seven access points for tapping along all the submarine optical cables from the Atlantic to the Pacific are used by the NSA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Cyber Security Center of the UK to intercept and inspect transmission indiscriminately. Large US internet enterprises and equipment providers’ cooperation is tapped by the NSA to capture US-sourced network wares bought by its targets where malwares are implanted before repackaging.
The elaborate system is used by the NSA to implant “backdoor” in IT products used by its targets and activated through the NSA downstream operations. From what I understand of the complicated and apparently technical jargon used, these implantations are terms “pre-positioning” to describe the tactics used by the “Volt Typhoon operators which carried out cyberattacks on critical US infrastructures like Guam which they blamed on others to have the propaganda pretest of “demonize” target countries.
Many of the IP addresses utilized by “Volt Typhoon” operations of the US to initiate attacks were used by the ransomware group Dark Power, which had no country and sectoral connection. Apparently, the cyber threats hyped up by the NSA and FBI last March 2024 also had the secondary objective of securing more funding from the U.S. Congress for boosting its cyber-infiltration capabilities. The overlapping motives have the “Five Eyes”, five intel agencies of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand also scratching their heads.
The exposé certainly alerts us to the danger of buying digital hardware, software, Internet service, downloading apps, created in the U.S., the Western countries and allies. Cyber-attack is the least of our worries as ordinary folks using the conveniences of the digital age, the vastly bigger worry is the deadly example we have seen in Lebanon of exploding pagers, cellphones, laptops and whatnot we innocently use but may explode and kill us when the U.S. and its allies target its enemies but take innocent civilian down with them.
It is no wonder that there has been a massive migration of buyers from the Global South ditching their iPhones, Motorolas, and other such brands in favor of Chinese electronic and digital devices. Good thing that I have long decided to have Huawei for my laptop, and I have long switched to Huawei for my cell phone. My problem with the Huawei Mate book is that it still uses an Intel processor though a tech says that it won’t explode so long as the battery is made in China too.
