Risky weather persists as ‘Marce’ makes another landfall over Sanchez-Mira

Life-threatening conditions continue over the northern portions of Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte on Thursday evening as Typhoon ‘Marce’ made another landfall in Sanchez-Mira, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

Based on its 11:00 p.m. advisory, the three aforementioned provinces continue to experience intense to torrential rains, resulting in possible widespread incidents of severe flooding and landslides.

The eye or center of ‘Marce’ was last monitored in the vicinity of Claveria, Cagayan. It was moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h and gustiness of up to 290 km/h.

“Typhoon ‘Marce’ will move generally westward, emerge over Aparri Bay, and possibly make another landfall along the coast of northwestern mainland Cagayan tonight. ‘Marce’ will emerge over the West Philippines tomorrow (8 November) early morning,” said PAGASA.

As of this posting, the following tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS) remain over the affected municipalities in Luzon:

  • TCWS No. 4 – The northern portion of Cagayan (Lal-Lo, Buguey, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Ballesteros, Allacapan, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria, Santa Praxedes, Lasam, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, Santa Ana) including Babuyan Islands (Fuga Is., Dalupiri Is., Babuyan Is., Camiguin Is.), the northern portion of Apayao (Santa Marcela, Luna, Flora, Calanasan, Pudtol, Kabugao), the northernmost portion of Abra (Tineg), Ilocos Norte, and the northernmost portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait)
  • TCWS No. 3 – Batanes (Mahatao, Uyugan, Basco, Ivana, Sabtang), the rest of Babuyan Islands, the rest of Cagayan, the rest of Apayao, the northern portion of Kalinga (Balbalan, Pinukpuk), the northern portion of Abra (Danglas, Lagayan, Lacub, San Juan, La Paz, Bangued, Langiden, San Quintin, Pidigan, Malibcong, Peñarrubia, Bucay, Licuan-Baay, Lagangilang, Dolores, Tayum, Sallapadan, Daguioman, Bucloc, San Isidro), and the northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Bantay, San Ildefonso, City of Vigan, Caoayan, Santa, Narvacan, Nagbukel)
