Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, PhilSports Complex on lockdown amid new COVID-19 case

The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City were placed on lockdown starting today (Wednesday, August 12).

In an advisory, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) said the lockdown of the two sports facilities was done after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

“May we humbly advise all concerned that the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila City and the PHILSPORTS Complex in Pasig City shall be on complete lockdown from 12 August 2020, until further notice,” said an advisory by the PSC.

“This is part of the agency’s health security protocol, after a staff tested COVID-19 positive in the recent round of RT-PCR testing,” it said.

The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex previously served as temporary shelter for thousands of locally stranded individuals while they waited for trips to their home provinces.
