Authorities rescued a kidnapped male senior high school student of an exclusive school in Taguig, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla announced on Wednesday, February 26.

Remulla said the kidnappers left the missing student from the British School Manila along the road in Parañaque City.

“The boy was left by his abductors during a hot pursuit operation in the Parañaque area. The cell phone signal of the captors were a few hundred meters away when they found the boy wearing pajamas on the side of the road,” the DILG chief said.

“The boy was recovered but the signal of the phone disappeared,” Remulla added. He said no ransom was paid, contrary to earlier reports. The interior secretary, however, confirmed that part of the boy’s finger was severed and the victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Remulla assured the victim and his family that justice will be served. He informed them that the kidnappers have been identified and are being hunted by policemen.

“We know who they are. We know where they are operating from. We will find them. Justice will be served,” Remulla said.

The victim was reportedly abducted on February 20 with their family driver and reported missing the next day. There was no information on the status of the driver amid unverified claims circulating on social media that he was killed.

Authorities from the Philippine National Police-Southern Police District (PNP-SPD) said investigation is ongoing and they will disclose details as soon as they become available.
