President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos hosted a “casual dinner” for senators at the Bahay Pangulo Tuesday night, a day after the change in leadership at the Upper House.

“Casual dinner with the Senators & their spouses,” the First Lady wrote Wednesday on her Facebook account, where she posted a photo of the gathering.

Majority of those who attended were senators who backed newly-installed Senate President Francis Escudero.

Ousted Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri was not in the photo, along with most of the senators, who did not vote for his removal.

Present during the dinner were Senators Robin Padilla, Alan Cayetano, Francis Tolentino, Raffy Tulfo, Sherwin Gatchalian, Mark Villar, Cynthia Villar, Pia Cayetano, Grace Poe, Jinggoy Estrada and Loren Legarda.

Legarda voted for Zubiri and even resigned from her post as Senate President Pro Tempore.

Escudero on Tuesday said he initiated the move to have Zubiri replaced.

He also belied rumors that outside forces, particularly Malacañang, were behind the recent Senate shake-up.
