President Rodrigo Duterte is set to sign an executive order declaring October 26 a non-working holiday in Cebu.
This is to that people can attend the funeral mass and procession for Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal on Thursday.
The Cardinal's remains will be laid to rest at the mausoleum located at the back of Cebu Metropolitan Church in downtown Cebu City.
The President told Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma his intention to declare a holiday when he visited the wake for Vidal at midnight on Sunday.
The Chief Executive greeted Juanito Vidal, the Achbishop's brother, upon arrival.
He kissed the coffin of the Cardinal and prayed in front of it.
The Chief Executive stayed in the wake for about 20 minutes.
Duterte is said to have deep friendship with Vidal.
In July 2016, Vidal had visited the President in Malacanang.
