LPA monitored east of Mindanao as ‘Ada’ moves away

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday announced it is monitoring a low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility toward the southern part of the archipelago.

Temporarily designated “LPA 01c,” it was located 2,260 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao.

According to PAGASA, the LPA could enter the PAR by Thursday or Friday.

The state weather bureau added that there was a “low” chance of the LPA developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression “Ada” is now moving eastward at 25 kilometers per hour (kph) over the Philippine Sea east of northern Luzon.

Its center was last estimated 970 kilometers east of northern Luzon, with the weather phenomenon forecast to move generally southeastward for the next 24 hours.

“Continuous dry air entrainment from the northeast monsoon is expected to result in the gradual weakening of Ada. It may be downgraded into a low pressure area by tomorrow,” PAGASA said in its latest tropical cyclone bulletin.
