MAASIN, SOUTHERN LEYTE—Local police arrested Friday the former boyfriend of a public school teacher who had stabbed her to death outside Libertad Elementary School in Maasin, Southern Leyte Wednesday afternoon.
Police Senior Superintendent Necirio Obaob said Jonathan Fernandez, 31, single, jobless and a resident of Barangay Combado of this city was arrested at 11:20 a.m. in Barangay Hinapu-Gamay through the help of a local resident.
The victim was as Angelica Miole, 23, single and a resident of Barangay Bactul II. She had been a teacher at the said school for the past two years.
A pupil of the victim who witnessed the crime told police that their class was ongoing when the suspect, who was later found out to be the victim’s ex- boyfriend, arrived.
The student said their teacher went out of the classroom to talk to her visitor; some of the female students, out of curiosity followed her outside.
The students were then stunned to see the man stabbing Miole in different parts of her body.
Police said they were alerted to the stabbing by a telephone call to their office.
The witness continued that the suspect continue to stab their teacher even if she had already fallen to the ground.
The suspect reportedly fled from the crime scene by stealing a standby Red Honda XRM single motorcycle. When he met an accident and stumbled, he continued fleeing on foot towards an unknown direction.
