The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued an alert for all airports in the Bicol region due to the potential impact of tropical depression “Aghon.”

All provinces in the Bicol Region are under Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1.

The Bicol International Airport (BIA) is currently experiencing light rains with light to moderate winds, as stated in the CAAP advisory.

CAAP officials have advised all airports in Bicol to “prepare and secure their facilities from the possible damage this cyclone could bring.”

The agency has assured that airport operations are normal at present, with no affected flights and continuous power supply.

“The equipment and machinery are operating normally, facilities are secured, and fuel is sufficient. Personnel are safe and carrying out their work as usual, while being on standby alert. BIA management is monitoring weather updates from PAGASA,” said CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio.

The airports in Bicol under CAAP management include Legazpi Airport, Naga Airport, Virac Airport, Masbate Airport, Daet Airport, Sorsogon Airport, and Bulan Airport.

Apolonio said instructions have been given to all concerned airport managers to ensure that the supply of fuel is sufficient.

“Equipment and documents are securely covered and protected, storm shutters are in place, and all personnel should be on stand-by alert and monitor weather bulletins from PAGASA.”
