The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday reported no injuries or deaths among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the wake of severe flooding brought about by recent heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman.

“No dead or injured Filipinos. Hoping this remains so,” the DMW said in an advisory.

DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said office work was suspended at the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Dubai.

“The MWO and Overseas Workers Welfare Offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are preparing to distribute relief goods, basic necessities, and other essential items to OFW communities in Al Ain and Dubai,” he said.

The MWO-Dubai’s public assistance and training areas were flooded and have since been cleaned.

Cacdac said the MWO-Dubai and Abu Dhabi are working closely with the Philippine Embassy and Consulate General, as well as coordinating with Filipino communities to assist OFWs.

Meanwhile, the seriously affected areas in Oman are villages with no OFWs.
