Presidential aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao underscored the need to unite the Bisaya people as he hinted at a possible alliance with the Partido Reporma whose standard-bearer is Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
Pacquiao paid a courtesy call on Reporma party president and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez Tuesday night in Tagum City.
“We talked about how important it is to unite Mindanao, that the Bisaya people should be united,” the senator said.
Without going into details, Pacquiao admitted a broader alliance involving his PROMDI party, the faction of the PDP-Laban led by Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, and Alvarez’s Reporma.
“The time will come for the three parties to talk. Let us see – the time will come for that,” he said.
Pacquiao earlier said he is not courting President Rodrigo Duterte for the latter’s endorsement following the decision of Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go to drop out of the presidential race.
But he will accept it, Pacquiao said, should Duterte adopt him as his candidate for the 2022 polls.
“We are not in communication, but what we aim for is unity. Work together and we will welcome anyone who believes in us and those who are willing to join us,” he said.
“I’m okay with it [endorsement]. Like what I have said, we will welcome all the support,” he added.
