Several areas in the National Capital Region (NCR), Calabarzon, Davao, and General Santos City are reporting a clustering of dengue cases, but there are no significant changes in the country’s cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, during a media briefing,  said that though there were no significant changes to the country’s dengue cases, they had received reports of clustering in some areas.

“[W]e also take note that some areas  are reporting clustering of dengue. And these are in some parts of Metro Manila, some parts in Region IV-A, and there are also some parts in Davao, and

also in General Santos,” she said.

Vergeire said the number of dengue cases recorded from January to October 2021 decreased to 59,481 from the 76,721 recorded in the same period last year.

In October, the Baguio City Health Service reported that dengue cases in the city had increased by 700 percent.

The DOH was coordinating with its regional offices on the matter, she said.

“Minomonitor natin lahat ito (we are closely monitoring these areas).

We already were able to coordinate with the regional offices so they can provide assistance to these LGUs,” she added.
