Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan has formally filed his certificate of candidacy as the city’s first congressional district representative for Election 2022.

Malapitan filed his COC with Councilors Obet Samson and Dean Asistio, who will run for representatives of the second and third districts, respectively.

Before filing his candidacy, the mayor accompanied the entire Aksyon at Malasakit Team in submitting their COCs led by his son, mayoralty candidate and current first district Rep. Along Malapitan, and vice mayoralty bet Councilor Karina Teh.

In Quezon City, actress Aiko Melendez and actor Bobby Andrews on Wednesday filed their COCs for councilors in District 5 and 4, respectively.

“I and (Zambales) Vice Governor Jay (Khonghun, her boyfriend) have talked and said that I am more needed to serve at a local post. If I would run for a national post, it would appear that I am ignoring my gratitude for the people that voted me for a local position,” she told the media.

Earlier, Melendez announced she would join the congressional race in District 5. She had served nine years as councilor for District 2.

Andrews, meanwhile, filed his candidacy for councilor under Team Panalo, along with ex-councilor Marvin Rillo, who is running for Congress.
