Tropical Depression Lannie is expected  to make more landfalls and bring more rains, the weather bureau said on Monday.

“Inaasahan dahil dadaan sa gitnang bahagi ng Visayas ang bagyo, may multiple landfalls ang mangyayari (We expect multiple landfalls as the tropical depression will pass through the central part of the Visayas),” weather forecaster Ariel Rojas of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

“Lannie” already made four landfalls, according to Rojas. These were in Bucas Grande Island in Surigao del Norte; Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands; Liloan, Southern Leyte; and Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.

The typhoon was heading towards Camotes Sea.

“Most of southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao will experience rains. Floods and landslides are possible,” Rojas said.

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains will still prevail over Calabarzon and the rest of Bicol Region and Mindanao.

Chris Perez, senior weather specialist at PAGASA also said “Lannie” was last seen 100 kilometers east of Surigao City. The tropical depression packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

“Because of this (strength) tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 has been raised over several areas,” he said.

Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 was raised over the southern part of Masbate; southern part of Romblon; southern part of Oriental Mindoro; southern part of Occidental Mindoro; northern part of Palawan; Eastern Samar; Samar; Biliran; Leyte; Southern Leyte; Capiz; Aklan;

Strong breeze to near gale conditions, and occasional gusts will be experienced over these areas.

Perez said moderate to heavy, with at times intense rains will be experienced over the Visayas, Bicol region, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and Caraga Region.

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, are also likely over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Bataan, and the rest of Mindanao. Scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible,

especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards.

“Lannie” was moving west, maintaining its speed of 20 kilometers per hour (km/h), packing  maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. With Ma. Cristina Arayata, Rio N. Aja, and Priam Nepomuceno/PNA
