Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin G. Romualdez, and officials of the Department of Health (DoH) turned over on Wednesday three Mobile Dental Vehicles (MDVs) to Leyte local officials to bring quality dental care closer to the remotest barangays and help boost people’s confidence and self-esteem.

The Romualdez couple expressed gratitude to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III for his “malasakit” in responding to the dental needs of their constituents through the mobile dental buses that were donated to Babatngon Leyte Rural Health Unit, Tolosa Leyte Rural Health Unit, and Tacloban City Hospital.

“We thank Secretary Duque and his officials for their steadfast support to our relentless efforts to bring smile to our constituents,” Rep. Yedda Romualdez, chairperson of the House committee on welfare of children, said after attending the event at the DoH-Nonpariel Warehouse in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.

“This project is not just about having a good set of teeth, but also to help them boost their confidence and self-esteem,” she added.

Romualdez said the Mobile Dental Vehicles are expected to reach the remotest barangays to serve the poorest of the poor.

“We are happy now that dental procedures may be conducted through these mobile facilities. These vehicles with dentists on board will visit the remotest barangays in Leyte where people may have no access to this very essential healthcare,” she said.

The female legislator added that she and her husband wanted to bring dental services accessible and closer to the people like their other programs and projects.

The Romualdezes and the DoH through Health Facilities Enhancement Program Director Engr. Mari Jemma Quinto turned over the MDVs to Babatngon Leyte Rural Health Unit led by Mayor Maria Fe Rondina, Tolosa Leyte Rural Health Unit led by Mayor Maria Ofelia Alcantara, and Tacloban City Hospital.

The staff of Tingog party-list, the House Majority Leader, DoH, Tolosa local government, and others attended the event.
