Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan and Senator Francis Tolentino attended the start of the vaccination rollout at the Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC) today.

To encourage other medical staff, CCMC Administrator Dr. Fernando Santos and Caloocan City Health Officer Dra. Evelyn Cuevas volunteered to get the Sinovac vaccine first. They immediately underwent monitoring and at present they do not feel any adverse effects, Malapitan said.

In an earlier statement by Dr. Santos, he said that out of a total of 457 hospital staff, 149 of them agreed to get the Sinovac vaccine. But they hope to increase it and make use of the first 300 doses of the vaccine available from the Department of Health.

In their message, the mayor and the senator urged health workers to get vaccinated while ensuring that vaccines are safe and effective.

“This is an effective solution for us to recover from this pandemic that has greatly affected our lives. Let’s get vaccinated for the protection of ourselves and our loved ones,” said Mayor Oca. Jun David

Also present at the ceremonial vaccination rollout were Vice Mayor Macario “Maca” Asistio III, CCMC Director Dra. Madelyn Grace Ronan, and representative from DOH-NCR Robelto Belchez.

CCMC is one of two hospitals funded and operated by the Caloocan City Government. One is the Caloocan City North Medical Center which is also expected to start the vaccination rollout in the coming weeks. Jun David
