The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has decided to open the Pasig River Ferry on Sundays during the holiday season.

MMDA chairman Danilo Lim said his agency came up with the decision to serve ferry passengers to further serve its patrons, especially this peak month of December.

He said passengers may now enjoy the free ferry rides from Monday to Sunday, and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Passengers will be served at the terminals in Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin in Pasig City, Guadalupe in Makati City, Hulo in Mandaluyong City and Lambingan, Sta. Ana, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Escolta and Lawton, all in Metro Manila.

The MMDA is requiring passengers to wear face masks and face shields and undergo temperature checks as part of the strict enforcement of health and safety protocols against the coronavirus disease.

Inside the ferry boat, passengers must stay “one seat apart” in compliance with the physical-distancing measures.

Passengers must fill up a manifest form and commuter information sheet before boarding.

The ferry now serves authorized persons outside residence, health workers and government employees who need to report for work free of charge while the general community quarantine status is being enforced in Metro Manila.
