Two more U-turn slots along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue will be closed next week in line with the Edsa Busway project, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced on Wednesday.

The U-turn slots near Oliveros Drive and Balintawak Market will be closed to vehicular traffic from Nov. 23.

Traffic advisory signs have been installed near the U-turn slots to guide motorists on the impending closure.

The MMDA urged motorists to take the following alternate routes:

From northbound going southbound, affected vehicles may take the Balintawak Interchange, General Malvar/Bagong Barrio U-turn slot.

From southbound going northbound, affected vehicles may take the Quezon Avenue service road U-turn.

MMDA chairman Danilo Lim says the agency is in constant coordination with the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in exploring ways to facilitate the faster movement of commuters and private motorists along Edsa.

“The government’s goal of providing safe, reliable and efficient travel for commuters along the country’s main thoroughfare will further continue in coordination with concerned agencies,” Lim said.

The Edsa Busway designates the innermost lane of Edsa as an exclusive lane for public utility buses travelling along the national highway from Monumento in Caloocan to the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The gradual closure of the U-turn slots started in September this year.

The busway project aims to provide faster mobility for the commuting public amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.
