Beginning today (Aug. 4), the Pasig River Ferry service will be limited only to medical frontliners and government employees in support of their need for transportation with the re-imposition of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) over Metro Manila.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said free ferry rides will be available at the following stations – Pinagbuhatan, San Joaquin, Guadalupe, Valenzuela, Lawton and Escolta — to assist health workers and government employees who need to report for work.

The ferry boat trip routes are as follows: Pinagbuhatan to Guadalupe, Guadalupe to Escolta and vice versa, and Guadalupe to San Joaquin and vice versa.

Medical frontliners and government employees just need to present valid identification cards to avail of the free rides from Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"We hope that this effort will be helpful for our health workers and government employees in their transportation needs going to their respective workplaces,” said MMDA chairman Danilo Lim.

As precautionary measure against the spread of the COVID-19, the PRFS is implementing the following health and safety protocols:

• No mask, no entry;

• Physical distancing shall be observed at all times;

• Passenger who has colds, cough or body temperature with greater than 37.5 degrees Celsius will not be allowed to enter the PRFS premises; and

• Only persons aged 21 to 59 years old will be allowed to board ferry boats.

Upon entering the ferry station, medical frontliners and government employees will be required to undergo temperature check. They must also fill-out the manifest form and accomplish the commuter information sheet.

Mass transportation will be prohibited anew when the National Capital Region reverts back to modified enhanced community quarantine on August 4 amid the threat of the COVID-19.
