Customs agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport seized smuggled shipment of ecstasy pills worth P9 million at a warehouse in Pasay City.

The 5,205 ecstasy pills were found concealed in a paper shredder shipped from the United Kingdom and consigned to an individual in Pasig City.

Elements of the Bureau of Customs-NAIA under the supervision of district collector Carmelita Talusan made the seizure in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group last Monday.

Customs personnel assigned at DHL warehouse discovered the prohibited drugs while conducting document check and physical examination of the package after having observed apparent inconsistencies in details.

The seized drugs were turned over to PDEA for further investigation and prosecution of the consignee and those involved in the illegal importation for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
