Two ranking officials of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority went on self-quarantine after learning one of the persons attended their meeting last week got infected with the coronavirus disease.

“Following Department of Health’s protocols, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia is now in self-quarantine after learning that a COVID-19 positive person was present in a meeting he attended last week,” the agency’s Public Information Office stated in its advisory released to members of the media Monday.

Garcia is confident he will not get infected because he is strictly practicing precautionary measures like wearing a face mask, proper handwashing, and good hygiene.

Meanwhile, MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Pircelyn Pialago in a viber message sent to reporters said she also went on self-quarantine.

“As advised by our General Manager Jojo Garcia, I am one of those who need to self-quarantine since I attended a meeting where another attendee later tested positive for Covid-19” she said. “The GM himself was at the same meeting and is also doing self-quarantine.”

This is part of the protocol to stop the spread of the disease, according to Pialago.

“I ask those I have been personally in contact with, please do the same, as you may be at risk. Please don’t underestimate Covid-19 and make sure to carry out proper hygiene and health measures,” she added.

Pialago clarified “Hindi pa po magpapa-test. Priority po muna iyung may mga symptoms.”
