Atong Ang to file complaint vs. ‘Totoy’ over ‘missing sabungeros’ case

Filipino businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang will be filing his complaint-affidavit on Thursday, July 3, against e-sabong whistleblower ‘Alyas Totoy’—identified as Julie ‘Dondon’ Patidongan—before Prosecutor Arthur Magpantay at his office in Mandaluyong City.

Ang is recognized as a gaming industry tycoon over his significant involvement in online gambling and cockfighting sectors.

In 2022, he accused his rival e-sabong operators of conspiring to cause “trial by publicity” against him, linking him to the disappearance of online cockfighting enthusiasts involved in ‘tsope’ or cheating. The case is known today as the ‘missing sabungeros.’

In recent weeks, Ang has been dragged once again to the case after ‘Totoy’ surfaced and claimed that they were buried in Taal Lake.

In an interview with GMA’s 24 Oras, ‘Totoy’ officially named Ang as the alleged mastermind behind their abduction and killing. The whistleblower also responded to the planned lawsuit.

“It is like he is already suing himself because I’m the one he is suing because he is the one who ordered everything, like when he said I extorted P300 million. Just so everyone knows, I can’t accept his money,” he said.

Apart from Ang, he also identified Eric Dela Rosa and engineer Celso Salazar as co-perpetrators in the case. Celebrity Gretchen Baretto is also allegedly involved.

“Mr. Eric Dela Rosa, he is the one who monitors the shows when he knows there is ‘tsope’, he informs Mr. Atong Ang, then he and Celso Salazar will talk and call me to put those people on hold. Mr. Atong Ang, he is the chairman of Pitmaster, he is the mastermind and he is the one who orders to really clean up those people,” he said in Filipino.

‘Totoy’ claimed that members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were ordered to pick-up the missing individuals. He said he decided to speak up on the case just now because he trusts incumbent PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Meanwhile, four other accomplices have also resurfaced appealing protection to the government as they claim to be victims in the case.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has yet to determine if the newly revealed suspects can be considered as state witnesses.
