The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division (11ID) achieved a milestone with the first-ever recorded static line parachute jump in the Municipality of Talipao, Sulu, during the 1st Quarter Airborne Sustainment Training on February 16.
The training, organized by the 6th Special Forces “Lionheart” Battalion (6SFBn) under the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), involved qualified airborne personnel from 6SFBn and various 11ID units. It reinforced the division’s commitment to continuous capability development through specialized training.
Before the airborne insertion, troops underwent extensive pre-jump preparations at the 1101st Infantry Brigade headquarters. A Black Hawk helicopter transported the jumpers to the designated drop zone in Barangay Buntod, Talipao, where they successfully executed their jumps with precision and discipline.
Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of 11ID, highlighted that the training reflects the division’s proactive approach to strengthening military capabilities for securing Sulu and its surrounding areas. He emphasized the importance of sustained airborne proficiency in ensuring rapid deployment, force projection, and mission success in territorial defense operations. Rex Espiritu
