President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday emphasized the importance of skills matching in securing stable employment, as he oversaw the “Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps” job fair at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
“One of the common challenges in job hunting is that applicants’ skills don’t always align with the roles they apply for,” Mr. Marcos said.
“We are helping them find jobs that match their skill set,” he added.
The initiative, launched by the Office of the President on Jan. 31 in Manila, aims to assist beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in transitioning from government aid to financial independence.
It is being implemented in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and other agencies.
With over 2,500 applicants registered and 2,000 positions available, he expressed confidence that many job seekers would secure employment.
He stressed that skills assessment and job matching would bridge gaps between applicants and employers, ensuring a better fit for long-term stability.
All beneficiaries will undergo pre-employment orientation and receive P3,000 in food assistance through DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) will provide additional employment support, while those hired on the spot will receive up to P5,000 under the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) to cover pre-employment expenses such as clearances, medical exams, and other requirements.
DOLE has partnered with 27 employers to facilitate hiring opportunities, while 15 government agencies are on-site to assist with inquiries and services.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) also organized an expo featuring 42 exhibitors under the KADIWA ng Pangulo program, giving local producers a platform to showcase their goods.
