Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) pledged on Wednesday to continue pushing the government’s peace agenda in pursuit of a “just and lasting peace” for all Filipinos.
In a statement, Galvez noted that 2024 was another milestone-filled year for the peace body and the Comprehensive Philippine Peace Process.
“From pushing forward the nation's Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, to uplifting the lives of former rebels and combatants, and showcasing the gains of the nation's peace processes to the international community, these achievements stand as a testament to our collective commitment to bring a just and lasting peace to all Filipinos,” he said.
Galvez cited a number of OPAPRU accomplishments in the area of peace-building across the country.
“These breakthroughs were made possible with the full support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., our peace stakeholders, and of course, our fellow Filipinos. Thank you to all of you for staying by our side in this remarkable peace journey,” Galvez said.
Galvez noted that 2025 will also have its own share of challenges.
“However, OPAPRU is ready to face these concerns head on as we blaze new trails,” he said.
