Taguig logs highest cervical cancer screening rates

The city of Taguig was named by the Department of Health (DOH) as the top-performing local government unit for achieving the highest screening rates during the nationwide cervical cancer campaign.

Taguig was awarded first place for screening a total of 7,279 women aged 30-65 from January to July 2024, led by the City Health Office’s Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control Program.

City Health Officer Dr. Norena Osano and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control Program Medical Coordinator Dr. Marie Lovella Nofuente accepted the award.

In addition to the top prize, Taguig received a certificate of appreciation for its active participation in the nationwide cervical cancer screening services, contributing significantly to the country’s goal of eliminating cervical cancer.

Under Mayor Lani Cayetano’s “Transformative, Lively, and Caring” agenda, Taguig is committed to improving women’s health by providing free and accessible health services to women of all ages.
