Chances of survival in emergency situations can be significantly increased if every household is equipped with Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills, according to Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa.

“Empowering individuals with CPR skills is a crucial step towards building a resilient and health-conscious community,” Herbosa stressed.

On July 17, the Department of Health (DOH) through its Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) and Communication Office (COM) celebrated the inaugural National CPR Day in keeping with Proclamation No. 511 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The event aims to raise public awareness about CPR as a critical lifesaving technique in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest and drowning. Participants, including journalists received demonstrations of hands-only CPR using high-fidelity manikins under the supervision of DOH Assistant Secretary Albert Francis Domingo.

The demonstration sought to educate the public about emergency scenarios until the capacitation of every household member with the knowledge and skills necessary for this lifesaving technique can be reached.

This initiative supports the Department's 8-Point Action Agenda – Ligtas, Dekalidad at Mapagkalingang Serbisyo. This aims to ensure the provision of high-quality, safe, and people-centered services, including access to affordable medicines, across all life stages.
