Comelec exceeds 3.5m voter target for 2025

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has exceeded its 3.5 million target number of new voter registrants for the  2025 national and local elections (NLE).

Based on the Comelec’s latest data, around 3, 642,176 registered to become voters as of Thursday, more than three months since the start of the voter registration in February.

“The seven-month voter registration period in time for the 2025 national and local elections. We have already exceeded the expectations we set out back in 2023,” Comelec chair George Garcia said.

Of the number, Calabarzon topped the number of applicants with 632,493 followed by the National Capital Region with 510,590; Central Luzon with 422,092; and Central Visayas with 248,193.

Other regions with a high number of applicants are Davao Region with 248,193; Western Visayas, 213,030; Northern Mindanao, 180,018; Bicol Region, 165,056; Soccsksargen, 157,524; Zamboanga Peninsula, 118,972; Ilocos Region, 142,002; Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), 146,598, and Eastern Visayas, 128,291.

The ongoing nationwide voter registration will end on September 30.
