Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla called on Department of Justice officials and employees to emulate the heroes of World War II in doing their work as the country celebrates the Day of Valor on Tuesday, April 9.

“Let this day inspire us to become heroes in our own little way, the ‘modern-day heroes’ of the department — steadfast to the rule of law,” Remulla said in a statement.

He added that the DOJ personnel are similar to those who fought in World War II and are “a hero on their own.”

“You face the toughest battles each day, not only at work, but perhaps even within the solitude of your homes, struggling every moment to make each day better than yesterday for ourselves and loved ones,” he said.

Remulla cited the department’s lawyers who “even defied the lure of lucrative practice to prosecute people who continue to abuse our country and people.”

“The Day of Valor is for every DOJ personnel who puts in the effort to uplift their lives through honest service to the public without expecting anything in return,” he added.
