The Print Media Dealers Organization (PMDO) inducted its new set of officers in an event held in Quezon City recently.

The PMDO, an organization of newspaper dealers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, conducted the event dubbed  “PMDO: Balik Sigla 2024.”

As part of the event, the PMDO also gave posthumous plaques of recognition upon luminaries, honoring their enduring legacy and indelible imprint on PMDO’s history. Among those awarded were: Danilo Jose, Delfin Santos, Jocelyn Tutanes, Mario Angeles, Juanito Turingan, Juancho Magbuhos, and Jose De Luna.

The PMDO said the event also served as a poignant reminder of the profound impact of the pandemic on the print media landscape.

Like many other industries, the PMDO faced unprecedented challenges and setbacks, leading to a period of uncertainty and adversity.

The losses suffered were deeply disheartening, prompting a hiatus in the business of selling newspapers, according to their new chairman Herminda “Mimi” Valeriano.

However, amid the gloom and uncertainty, the resilience and determination of the print media community shone through, Valeriano said. “PMDO: Balik Sigla 2024” was more than just an induction ceremony; it was a symbolic gesture of renewal and resurgence.”

It represented a collective resolve to overcome challenges, adapt to changing times, and reclaim the vitality and relevance of print media in the digital age.

As PMDO embarks on this journey of revitalization, it does so with a sense of optimism and determination. The event served as a rallying cry for unity and collaboration, inspiring all stakeholders to work together towards a common goal – ensuring the enduring success and sustainability of print media for generations to come.

In the spirit of “Balik Sigla,” PMDO embraces the future with renewed vigor and enthusiasm, confident in its ability to navigate challenges and seize opportunities, and reaffirming its commitment to advancing the timeless art of print media.
