OCD, NEXTGEN forge accord on emergency response

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Next Generation Advocate Foundation PH Inc. (NEXTGEN) on Tuesday forged an agreement on to bolster the government’s response operations during emergencies and disasters.

Under the accord, NEXTGEN will provide support to the government’s response operations by furnishing resources such as relief goods for disaster and emergency victims as recommended by the OCD.

NEXTGEN will also assist in other projects and activities related to response initiatives.

OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno and NEXTGEN’s Treasurer Princess Go concluded the agreement.

In a statement, Nepomuceno expressed gratitude to the NEXTGEN Foundation for collaborating with the OCD in terms of response operations, emphasizing the importance of ensuring timely and adequate assistance to populations affected by disasters.

He highlighted the broader positive impact of the agreement on all Filipinos, particularly the younger generation.

“We have to help the younger generation understand the importance of preparedness and the need for a reliable system in the event of major calamities,” Nepomuceno said.

For her part, Go conveyed the foundation’s commitment to support the OCD and serve Filipino communities.

“This partnership is more than just an agreement on paper. It is a promise to the Filipino people that come what may, we will stand united in the face of adversity.” she emphasized.

“Let us remember the spirit that brought us together. The spirit of resilience, compassion, bayanihan, and a shared commitment to be there for our communities. May this collaboration be a beacon of hope for those who need it most and may our collective effort pave the way for a safer, more resilient Philippines.” she added.

NEXTGEN Advocate Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to support Philippine communities through disaster relief and sustainable development initiatives in partnership with both the public and private sectors.

The signing rite was also attended by Deputy Administrators of Civil Defense: Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro, Assistant Secretary Hernando Caraig Jr., Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, and Director of Rehabilitation and Recovery Management Service Harold Cabreros.
