Facing a Senate panel on Tuesday, a woman who used to work for Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) testified that she was raped by its founder Apollo Quiboloy. She said the crime took place on Sept. 1, 2014 when she was only 17 years old.
The woman known by her alias “Amanda” was among the witnesses presented at the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros.
Amanda got involved in the religious group reportedly as a ‘full-time miracle worker.’ In between sobs, she recalled her harrowing ordeal in the hands of Quiboloy, whom they refer to as the “Father.” She tried to resist his sexual advances on her, but failed out of fear.
Hontiveros’ committee started looking into the abuses of different religious groups following complaints from former members. Quiboloy was invited to attend the Senate hearing, but did not show up.
