San Miguel Corp. (SMC) president and chief executive officer Ramon S. Ang was named among Forbes Asia’s 15 leading philanthropists from the Asia-Pacific region for 2023.

Ang was the only Filipino to be included in the 17th edition of Forbes Asia’s annual “Heroes of Philanthropy” issue, which highlights business leaders who are donating from their own fortunes and giving personal time and attention to their select causes.

Ang was recognized for his commitment to donate P500 million ($9 million) to build schools for underprivileged children in Manila.

Since 2020, Ang through his RSA Foundation has personally contributed over P150 million to scholarship grants and medical aid.

Separately, SMC’s San Miguel Foundation spent over P1 billion to build five schools in the Metro Manila region, while donating P14.8 billion to support the government’s relief measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
