The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the local government units (LGUs) in the area are planning to integrate all closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in the National Capital Region.

On Wednesday, MMDA officials led by assistant general manager for planning Victor Pablo Trinidad and engineer Oliver Bantog of management information systems met with the technical working group from the 17 LGUs and discussed the planned integration of all CCTVs.

The goal is to create an interoperable platform for CCTV integration, facilitate relationships between localities, accelerate crime and accident investigations, and improve incident management systems.

The MMDA also emphasized the integration’s importance for disaster and emergency response, ensuring immediate safety and security for those in need.

Meanwhile, the MMDA has signed an agreement with the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Philippines Inc. to enhance its disaster preparedness response and public service delivery.

Under the agreement, APO will cooperate with the activities and projects of the MMDA for order and safety of the entire Metro Manila. Its members will also undergo training for disaster preparedness and be part of the Metro Manila Emergency Volunteer Corps.

“APO will help us in our activities and projects towards the development of Metro Manila,” said MMDA chairman Romando Artes.

He said the group is also set to join the agency’s cleanup operations and tree planting activities at the MMDA Nature Park in Carmona, Cavite.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Artes, APO national president Kevin Faustino Dy, and MMDA Deputy chairman Undersecretary Frisco San Juan Jr. last Wednesday in Pasig City.

The MMDA continues to push for more programs and policies pursuant to its mandates and functions, including but not limited to the construction and rehabilitation of flood control infrastructures, traffic management reforms, and disaster preparedness, among others.

To sustain the momentum in ensuring the effective delivery of its services, the agency has likewise upgraded its facilities, foremost of which was the construction of the MMDA new head office building in Pasig City.
