Deputy Speaker and re-electionist Valenzuela City 2nd Dist. Rep. Eric Martinez, who is seeking his third and final term has been proclaimed after garnering 132,241 votes against his lone opponent, Magtanggol Gunigundo, who garnered 50,599 votes.
The Valenzuela City Official Board of Canvassers managed to secure and counted all the election returns and finish its Certificate of Canvass and officially proclaimed Martinez.
Martinez upon receiving the official copy of the certificate of canvass expressed thanked his supporters.
Martinez said that he truly feels great knowing how his constituents appreciated his efforts in making sure all his worthy projects and programs are implemented.
Martinez also credited his victory on the support from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and the backing of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
He is also a staunch supporter of the Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte Unity tandem and his long-time local political alliance with the Gatchalians.
The group of third-termer Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian, who ran unopposed for the first district congressional seat, also secured victory.
Incumbent Valenzuela City 1st Dist. Rep. Wes Gatchalian, who will switch position with his younger brother Rex, and his running mate, vice-mayoral bet Lorie Natividad-Borja took the swipe on their respective opponent, as their ticket for councilors, both on the city’s first and second district as well won convincingly, posting a 16-0 win for the Gatchalian’s Team Red.
Meanwhile, Martinez said that with the official proclamation already done, their group, Team Red, will buckle-up back to work, for many things still to be done specially as Covid-19 pandemic just lingering around. Martinez is set to lead the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion project of the Valenzuela City Hospital, that would pave the way in increasing its capacity to 500-beds.
