The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday confirmed that another inmate escaped from the New Bilibid Prison’s maximum security compound.

The BuCor said the inmate has been identified. He is said to be the fourth escapee during a jailbreak incident reported on Monday.

BuCor spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag, quoted by reports, said BuCor has named a certain “Chris Candas Ablas” as the fourth escapee.

Chaclag said Ablas has been convicted of robbery with homicide. Ablas was first reported missing, before BuCor confirmed that he was, indeed, one of the escapees.

Chaclag said out of the four inmates who escaped, two were killed in a shootout. Ablas and a certain Drakilou Falcon, are still at large, BuCor said.

The New Bilibid maximum security prison compound has been under lockdown while

authorities are conducting a probe and recovery of the incident, Chaclag said.

PMGEN Vicente Danao, Jr., director of the National Capital Region Police Office has reportedly ordered a region-wide manhunt for the two escaped convicts.

Danao, in a statement, said all police units have been alerted and have been ordered to assist in the apprehension of the escapees. He also warned the public to be “alert and vigilant” in the aftermath of the incident.
