Overnight or long-term pay parking at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will be temporarily prohibited to ease traffic going to and from the airport during the rest of the holidays.

“Overnight parking in all NAIA Terminal parking areas is suspended beginning Dec. 26, 2019 until Jan. 5, 2020,” officials of the Manila International Airport Authority-Media Affairs Division said in a statement.

MIAA chief information officer Connie Bungag said the temporary interruption of service at the airport will allow the authority to address the requirement of the bigger majority of motorists using the NAIA parking areas.

The airport authority has anticipated the arrival of an increase number of air travelers, including overseas Filipino workers, in four terminals this month to spend and enjoy their vacations with friends and families this holiday season.

Major airlines advised passengers to be at the airport at least two hours before departure for domestic flights, and three hours for international flights in anticipation of the increase numbers of passengers during the holidays.

The Cebu Pacific Air and its sister airline CebGo urged all passengers to allot ample time for security inspection, immigration screening, check-in, bag drop and other pre-departure requirements.

It also reminded that those traveling Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) need to allot additional time for more stringent security screening required by their governments.

“We advise all passengers to monitor flight information and if possible, immediately proceed to their respective boarding gates. Passengers should be at the gate at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of departure, except for flights departing Dubai (45 minutes),” the CEB management stated.

Passengers are also reminded to pack their luggage properly and ensure that checked-in baggage have proper identification labels with name, address and contact details. While weighing scales at the check-in counters are calibrated regularly to ensure accuracy, check the weight prior to heading for the airport to avoid the hassle of repacking upon check in.
