Describing his stint in government as a “roller-coaster,” Philippine Information Agency Director General Harold Clavite has said that he was officially resigning from his post.

Clavite posted his resignation in a social media on Friday,  and thanked all those who have been part of his ‘‘journey.’’

“It’s official. I’ve separated from the Philippine Information Agency effective today. Many thanks to all who have been part of my journey. I appreciate all the support given by our partners in government, the private sector, and the general public,” he said.

He added that ‘it “It has been a roller-coaster ride the past three years and I look forward to a less stressful private life now. I have contributed a lot and have completed my purpose of giving up my career and life in the United States to serve my home country, the #Philippines. I will be back to my family and take care of my own now.”

Only last June, Clavite faced an investigation by the Presidential Communications Operations Office over allegations of splitting contracts, misusing funds for hotel accommodations, and irregularities in the production of information materials.

Clavite, however, has denied the allegations which he said were the handiwork of some people in the agency to discredit him after he initiated a probe on supposed irregularities in the PIA, the government’s development communications arm.

“Rest assured,” Clavite continued, “I will continue to be an advocate for peace, good governance, and a more responsible citizenry. I will continue to promote and foster a freer world through information and communication by advocating #responsiblesocialmedia and responsible sharing of information. I will continue to support the work in #Marawi.”
