Immigration agents arrested a Jordanian for repeatedly beating his Filipina wife in Davao City and was also found working in the country without a permit.

BI Intelligence Division Acting Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said that Kamal Isam Kamal Abu Beih, who was arrested  by operatives from the bureau’s Mindanao Intelligence Task Group would be deported for being an undesirable alien and banned from returning to the Philippines.

Immigration chief Jaime Morente issued a mission order for Abu Beih’s arrest after his estranged wife complained that her husband physically assaulted her two months ago.

“Her husband continued to threaten and harass her at the police headquarters where she filed a complaint and reported the incident,” Manahan said.

“He will be deported because we cannot allow undesirable aliens to physically harm and trample on the dignity of our Filipino women,” he added.

BI Intelligence Officer Melody Gonzales, BI-MITG head, said the Jordanian was also engaged in gainful activity without the proper visa as it was found that he owned and operated a shawarma business at the Roxas night market in the city.

She added that the couple’s relationship turned sour after the Jordanian left his wife, with whom she is legally married since 2007, to live with another woman.

The victim claimed the Jordanian attacked her during a heated argument in their house last June  in the presence of their minor children where she was strangled and almost choked to death.

She also alleged that her husband slammed her to the sliding door, banged her head and slapped her several times.

“Even when they were already at the police station, subject continued to threaten her, disrespecting the police officers who investigated the incident,” Gonzales said.
