Immigration agents have arrested and detained a Chinese fugitive who is wanted in China for economic crimes and victimized several people, including Chinese government officials.
The BI agents, together with Chinese Interpol, were armed with a warrant of arrest against a certain Cai Jian Jun, who is also a fugitive from China, but the subject was not in the area.
Instead, the BI agents found Jiang Rongqun, who was later discovered to be wanted in China for economic crimes and has a pending warrant of arrest issued by a Chinese court.
The 32-year-old Chinese fugitive committed credit card fraud in China and his passport had been canceled by the Chinese government, Immigration authorities said.
Jiang is now detained at the BI Detention Facility in Taguig City while waiting for his deportation proceedings.
The BI is now looking for Cai Jian Jun, who is reportedly still hiding in Metro Manila.
