Former Health secretary Janette Garin said on Thursday Ejercito was misinformed when he accused her and two other officials of mismanaging the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
Garin vented her ire against the senator, who had said that Garin, along with dismissed PhilHealth interim chief Celestina Dela Serna and former PhilHealth president Alexander Padilla, should be charged for allegedly mismanaging the agency’s funds, resulting in its current financial state.
“Very much misinformed si Senator JV Ejercito. Ako’y nagugulat na tila hindi niya alam ang nangyayari sa PhilHealth,” she said.
But Ejercito said that it is up to Garin to prove that she is innocent with regards to the alleged mismanagement of PhilHealth.
“Burden of proof is now with her. Those issues came from PhilHealth and DoH officials, not from me,” he said in a television interview.
“There were documentary evidence that were confirmed by CoA [Commission on Audit] as well. It’s not my problem to disprove the allegations, it’s hers and Padilla’s,” he added.
